This is a Call for Papers to interested members, past, present, and future of the Lawrence Society and of the Leavis Society for the Leavis-Lawrence Day at Eastwood Hall Hotel on Saturday September 8 2018 (to be followed in the evening by the D.H.Lawrence Birthday Memorial Lecture at the Hotel).
The theme of the Day is 'Leavis's Landmark Work on Lawrence'. This will obviously include Leavis's 'D.H.Lawrence: Novelist' and 'Thought, Words and Creativity' as well as of course any essays written independently of these two books.
No speakers have yet been enlisted.
No guidance for papers is proposed beyond suggesting that appraisals of Leavis's critiques on one or more of Lawrence's works or of Leavis's more general assessments of Lawrence could be considered, as well as any other relevant approach, such as, for example, comparisons with other critics' views, etc.
Outlines of approaches to papers should be sent to the Secretary of the Leavis Society, Glenys Willars (firstname.lastname@example.org) by the end of May. A decision on papers will be made by committee-representatives of both Societies as soon after that date as possible.
